Islanders Power Play Pawns Interchangeable; Roy Looking For Hard Work With 11 Games To Go
The Islanders power play has been holding them back all season long and their struggles right now, with the playoffs in reach, could be catastrophic.
ELMONT, NY — The New York Islanders’ power play has scored 21 goals on 175 tries through 71 games, the fewest in the National Hockey League after going 0-for-2 on the power play in a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.
Those numbers equate to a 12 percent power play, which remains dead last in the NHL. While the power play has not been a strength of the Islanders for years, they did execute at a 20.4 percent pace in 2024-25, so an 8 percent drop-off is anything but ideal.
