Prior to puck drop against the New York Islanders, I asked Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice about Mike Reilly, who was in the starting lineup for the first time since Nov. 1 due to a heart defect.
Maurice knows Reilly, coaching him for a bit after he signed a one-year deal with Florida on July 1, 2023.
Reilly battled for a roster spot but only played in two games before being waived on Nov. 24 and claimed by the Islanders on Nov. 25.
Maurice is a gem and gave a great answer about his former player’s resiliency.
