EAST MEADOW, NY — There’s not a single player on the New York Islanders who takes more heat than defenseman Noah Dobson.

Whether it’s defensive miscues or his upcoming contract negotiations —spoiler alert, he’s going to get at least $8 million, as he should — I do think people need to appreciate No. 8 more.

To give you a peek behind the curtain, Dobson is a player who is always honest about his play and always available, whether after a practice, a morning skate, or a game, even after games where he may be at the center for negative reasons.

I caught up with Dobson following Wednesday’s morning skate to talk about his struggles in the last game, what getting back into a wild-card spot would mean, and more:
