ELMONT, NY — On Saturday evening, Pat LaFontaine was inducted into the New York Islanders’ Hockey Hall of Fame.

We spoke with LaFontaine during the first intermission, as he shared countless stories about his career and Al Arbour, and also discussed the current Islanders team.
Have a listen:

If the team battles the way it has and they stay at the top or near the top of the metro. Darche has to at least look out there and see if there is a piece out there that can help the team. It has to be a piece like a Palmeri that can help the team for the next four years. I think a RHD that can move the puck and has an all around game. MacKenzie Weegar would be excellent for this team. The only assets you want to move would be one of those first round picks. The only reason I say that is the wide open nature of the season, coupled with the team’s performance. The whole thing will be predicated on team’s health at deadline. Palmeri and Romanov’s injuries made the decision making more tenuous. If the price isn’t too high you add, if not you stick. The RHD can give you an upgrade Defensively and offensively for the next few seasons.
The Islanders got the rarest of commodities in the Dobson Trade. Emil Heineman, is a Power Forward that is only going to get better. He is a top line forward that gives you a complete 200 Ft game with an edge. Nothing against Dobson wish him well, but we fleeced the Habs. Granted no one thought Eklund and Aitcheson would be available at those picks we received from Habs, but they were! Eklund is going to be a very very good player too Top 6. Kashawn Aitcheson is another rare commodity an all around D man that can lay punishing hits and also fight. This along with getting Schaefer with the first overall has transformed this team into a future cup champion!
