ELMONT, NY — Ross Johnston hasn’t been a member of the New York Islanders since the 2022-23 season, but it’s still a pleasure to chat with him every time he’s in town.

During his time with the Islanders (2015-2022), he worked his tail off, believing he could earn a place in an NHL lineup every day. Now, he’s playing every day on a very young and talented Anaheim Ducks team.

I had the chance to speak with Johnston following the Ducks’ morning skate, along with a few Islanders, about what he meant to the room when he was here and how he’s grown as a player.
