What Ryan Bowness's Job With Islanders Will Entail
The Islanders have a new assistant GM.
On Monday, the New York Islanders announced that they had hired Ryan Bowness as Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel.
But what will his job actually entail?
According to the team, Bowness will be in charge of player personnel, as well as running the pro scouting staff.
He’ll work closely with Patrick Roy and his assistant coaches, Benoit Desrosiers, Rick Bennett, and Bob Boughner, along with general manager Mathieu Darche, to help the Islanders build the most competitive roster possible.
What does this mean for Ken Morrow, who has served as the club’s Director of Pro Scouting since 1992?
I’m told that Ken will remain on the pro scouting staff.
Bowness’s roles with the Islanders will be a tad bit different than the roles he held with the Ottawa Senators the last three seasons.
