EAST MEADOW, NY — Veteran goaltender Semyon Varlamov rejoined the New York Islanders at the end of Monday’s practice as he continues to work his way back from double-knee replacement.

Varlamov has not played since Nov. 29, 2024, in a 5-4 overtime win over the Washington Capitals. So, it’s been a minute.

Regardless of what the future holds for the 37-year-old, who is in year three of a four-year deal worth $2.75 million annually, seeing him on the ice back with his teammates doing what he loves was an awesome sight.

While I wasn’t able to talk to Varlamov after the practice because he’s currently on LTIR, I was able to talk to a few of his teammates to get their reactions to Varlamov being back on the ice.
