Short Time For Islanders To Get It Together Before Trip To New Jersey
ELMONT, NY — New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy only had a few days to alter his lines ahead of their game against the Detroit Red Wings after finding out that forward Anthony Duclair would be out a while.
While his changes paid dividends in most facets of the game, outshooting the Red Wins 29-11, the result was a 1-0 loss.
Roy only has a few days before he and the team head to New Jersey to battle the Devils (5-3-1), who just lost 8-5 to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.
It wasn’t like the Islanders’ offense was clicking before the Duclair injury. They got shut out in two of their first five games with him in the lineup. But not having Duclair certainly doesn’t make the offense stronger.
The Islanders may be “off” on Wednesday, but Roy certainly won’t be.
Here’s the things he needs to figure out before Friday’s game, the first of a back-to-back before the Florida Panthers come to town on Saturday.
