Shabanov Yet To Sign With NHL Team; Islanders Remain On Table
I wouldn't count the Islanders out just yet when it comes to Maxim Shabanov.
Rumors have been circulating that KHL forward Maxim Shabanov was signing with the Philadelphia Flyers. Yesterday, the 24-year-old chose a North American agent, signing with Ryan Barnes of Quartexx.
On Sunday night, I was able to confirm reports that the 24-year-old has yet to sign with an NHL team.
While Barnes doesn’t represent any current New York Islanders, Quartexx represents defenseman Adam Pelech and pending restricted free agent Maxim Tsyplakov…
Tsyplakov, who signed a one-year entry-level deal with the Islanders on May 16th, 2024, chose to come to Long Island because of the opportunity.
It certainly helped that the Islanders had three Russians in the locker room — Ilya Sorokin, Semyon Varlamov, and Alexander Romanov — to help him when needed.
Shabanov is looking for an opportunity.
While the Flyers may be the likely landing spot, I do believe Shabanov coming to Long Island is still on the table.
