The Hits Keep Coming, But Islanders Keep Hitting Back
The Islanders have more injuries to deal with.
The New York Islanders continue to take hit after hit, losing three players on their four-game winning streak. But all the Islanders have done is hit back.
On Monday, in their 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Islanders lost Noah Dobson to a lower-body injury that has him out week-to-week.
Then, in Thursday’s 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers, Scott Mayfield got hurt after being slew-footed, only to return to the ice shortly after — thankfully.
And then there was Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Islanders lost Ryan Pulock in the opening 15 seconds. He suffered an upper-body injury after getting slew-footed behind the Islanders' net before Marcus Hogberg had to leave before overtime due to an injured hand.
The Islanders won the game, 3-2 in overtime, courtesy of Brock Nelson, to keep their win streak alive.
The hits keep coming, but the Islandes keep hitting back — literally.
Long Island has recorded 149 hits through these four games, with Casey Cizikas leading the way with 25.
