After a 3-1-1 week, the Islanders embark on a five-game road trip out west.
Good morning! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.
I also hope you guys bought some caffeine because the New York Islanders will be playing a tad bit later this week than usual.
They kick off their five-game road trip on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers, starting at 9 PM ET.
Maybe, just maybe, the Islanders will have Alexander Romanov back in the lineup as he’s making the trip, per head coach Patrick Roy.
They could definitely use him against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

The New York Islanders watched a two-goal lead evaporate against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night, ultimately falling 4-3 in a shootout.
This marked the third time this season that the Islanders led in a game but lost and the fifth time in 15 games that they had lost a lead at some point.
That empty-net tally was the third 5-on-6 goal the Islanders have allowed this season, the second most in the NHL, with two of three coming against the Devils.

Columbus Claims Nashville's Defenseman Dante Fabbro; Why He Wasn't The Answer To Help Islanders Injured Blueline
On Sunday, the Columbus Blue Jackets claimed for Nashville Predators right-shot defenseman Dante Fabbro.
Given that waiver order is determined by reverse point percentage, that could mean New York Islanders, who are missing three of their six defensemen and are using two fringe NHLers and a rookie right now, could have put in a claim.
But, even if Fabbro fell to the Islanders as a waiver option, he isn't the right man for the job.

The New York Islanders’ 4-3 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night left a sour taste in the team’s and fans’ mouths.
It was yet another game where the Islanders blew a lead, a two-goal lead in the third period, allowing a tying goal late before ultimately earning that “loser” point.
This latest blown lead does feel different than the rest, one because the Devils are a talented team and the other because the Islanders are without two-thirds of their top line and the entirety of the left side of their defense.
But just because it feels different doesn’t mean there’s an excuse to blow a game, which they have become accustomed to doing.
That’s a game, regardless of personnel, that the Islanders needed to find a way to win.
Had they won, they’d be on their way to Edmonton, where they would be winners of three straight games, defying the odds.
Now, the Islanders had to sit on a plane, wondering why they couldn’t shake this “blowing leads” issue.
While the glass may seem half empty, the week was overall positive for Patrick Roy’s squad. They earned points in four of their last five games and are back to NHL-.500, sitting at 6-6-3.
On this road trip, the Islanders will play three teams currently holding down playoff spots —Edmonton, Vancouver, and Calgary — and two on the outside looking in, with Seattle and Detroit to wrap it up.
The key to victory is keeping things simple, the blueprint to what allowed the Islanders to have success this past week.
