After the Islanders' 4-1 win over the Capitals in Alex Ovechkin's record-setting game, Wayne Gretzky stopped by their locker room to offer words about their sportsmanship.

ELMONT, NY — If any team were going to give up Alexander Ovechkin’s record-breaking goal, it would be the New York Islanders. That’s just what would happen.

It was incredibly fitting that Ovi did it against the Islanders because Wayne Gretzky’s 894th career goal came against Long Island at Madison Square Garden in a 3-1 win for the New York Rangers.
