The Islanders Have Been Here Before With Anders Lee
The Islanders and Anders Lee appear far apart on a new contract, but it's a situation the organization has navigated before and were prepared for.
On Tuesday, New York Islanders pending unrestricted free agent captain Anders Lee talked about where his mind was at with ESPN’s Don LaGreca and Alan Hahn.
“This has been my home. It’s been my home for a long time. I’ve raised my family here. It’s been a privilege to be an Islander and to be a captain of this team. I’ve loved every second of it and haven’t taken it for granted. I feel like I have a lot of good years left of hockey in me. Would love to make this happen.”

On Wednesday, LeBrun reported that Lee and the Islanders were far apart on an extension and that the veteran was likely to test free agency:
The biggest takeaway here is that Darche has drawn a line in the sand about what he’s comfortable with when it comes to years and terms on a Lee extension.
