What To Expect From Islanders Top Forward Prospect Victor Eklund In His NHL Debut

New York Islanders prospect Victor Eklund is expected to make his NHL debut vs. Carolina. Here’s what to expect from the dynamic 19-year-old forward.

New head coach Pete DeBoer made it clear following the New York Islanders’ elimination on Sunday night that, for their season finale against the Carolina Hurricanes, he wanted to get a look at players who could factor into this team’s future.

That brings us to forward prospect Victor Eklund, who I’m told is being recalled from Bridgeport after posting nine points (two goals, seven assists) through his first seven AHL games. He recorded 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 43 games with the SHL’s Djurgårdens before coming to North America on March 26.



Eklund, 19, was drafted 16th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft—one of two first-round picks acquired in the return for Noah Dobson. The other was defenseman Kashawn Aitcheson, selected 17th overall.
