Islanders Without Romanov vs. Red Wings & Notes
Can the Islanders make it two wins in a row?
ELMONT, NY — Fresh off a regulation win, the New York Islanders host the Detroit Red Wings for the final meeting of the season.
Semyon Varlamov (3-2-0, 2.60 GAA, .903 SV%) gets the nod against Alex Lyon (3-4-0, 2.85 GAA, .908 SV%).
In 14 career games against Detroit, Varlamov is 7-7-0 with a 2.27 GAA and .925 SV%, most recently taking a loss with two goals on 24 shots on Nov. 5, 2022.
Lyon has owned the Islanders this season, posting a 2-0-0 record with a 0.50 GAA and a .981 SV%.
The Islanders will be without Alexander Romanov due to illness, while Patrick Kane won’t play because of an upper-body injury.
The Islanders have three players looking to hit milestone marks:
Anders Lee: one assist away from 200
Noah Dobson: one point away from 200
Ryan Pulock: two points shy of 200
