Beyond Jordan Kyrou: Owen Tippett & Other Islanders Potential Trade Targets
What if the Islanders can't land Kyrou?
It’s all quiet on the Eastern front with the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline this Friday at 3 PM ET.
New York Islanders general manager Mathieu Darche wants to reward his group for their strong play as his team flew to California riding a five-game winning streak, their longest of the season, currently tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins in points for second place in the Metropolitan Division.
New York Islanders Trade Deadline Update: The Latest Buzz
The 2026 NHL Trade Deadline is next Friday, March 6, at 3 PM ET. From inquiries to in-house decisions, here’s the latest.
I think if Darche is able to make a trade, it’s going to be a big one.
We’ve touched on Kyrou — that’s the player I think the Islanders need to try and get — a consistent 30-goal scorer who is under contract through 2023-31 at $8.125 million annually.
But it takes time to tango, and the Blues don’t have to move on from the talented goal scorer. It’s technically up to Kyrou, who has a full no-trade clause. This could be more of a summer trade if Kyrou doesn’t want to move in-season, which does make sense.
He could still be an option for the Islanders down the road if he’s not open to moving now, but that doesn’t help Long Island right now, which is what Darche wants to do.
So, who are some other options?
