LISTEN: Islanders & Their Nightmare Before Christmas
Our beat reporter Stefen Rosner & David Kolb sound off after their 7-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres in the latest edition of Rosner's Rink Wrap.
The New York Islanders should have had tremendous momentum going into their final game before the Christmas Break against the Buffalo Sabres after smacking the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 on Saturday night.
Instead, it was the team who had gone winless in 13 games (0-10-3) that came ready to play and ready to work.
The result was a 7-1 routing by Buffalo, leaving the Islanders players and their fans truly embarrassed.
The question now is, where does the team go from there?
In this edition of Rosner’s Rink Wrap, we dive into the following:
What on earth happened?
Roy’s decision to leave Sorokin in
What Lou should do between now and the trade deadline
How many assets the Islanders have on the trade market
Looking ahead to Pittsburgh
Along with David Kolb, I want to wish you all a Happy Holidays. Thank you so much for your support, day in and day out. It means the world. We have some projects in the works. We look forward to sharing them with you soon!

And for god sakes bring up Alex Jefferies he earned it and the fourth line needs help both on the PK and scoring. We have Martin Engvall Fashing that should either be a 13th forward or in Bridgeport.
It is simply time to retool this team. Let’s say they rally and secure an eighth seed, which they have done the last three years. A Gentleman’s Sweep to any of these contenders is not progress, not to mention the team will continue to get older. A lot of Individuals are playing well and could be the difference makers in a Cup Run on different teams. Winnipeg is a prime candidate it now or never for them. To me Pulock is the blue chip piece, he is an excellent all around player and his playoff experience and performance is fantastic. He can bring back both a young talented forward and a defenseman. If I was any of the contenders I would be in on this guy, his best hockey is ahead of him. Palmeri is a playoff performer period love him in any role on a contender. JG worth his weight in Gold on a Cup Run. Lee has one more year left and playing so well. Can provide grit scoring physicality and fight. These are the guys I would move coming out of New Year’s. You hold assets too long they lose value!!! The stock is high or the Salary cap relief is now, you wait injury or devaluation will make these assets worthless. Bring up guys in Bridgeport take a hard look at everyone in the organization. Danny Nelson is capable of earning a third forth line center job next year. Cole Eiserman is also a possibility for next year. Let the kids play.
