ELMONT, NY — Over the last 48 hours, the New York Islanders added forward Ondrej Palat and defenseman Carson Soucy, bolstering their lineup as they push for the playoffs.

The East is wide open. The plan has always been for this team to make the playoffs, right from General Manager Mathieu Darche’s introductory press conference. Now, he’s made two moves to stabilize the lineup, making the team better today than it was a few days ago.
