Shaping Game Night At UBS: What Do Fans Want Most?
With Mathieu Darche leading the Islanders, the organization is putting fans first—bringing back traditions and improving game-day experiences.
With Mathieu Darche now at the helm, one thing is already clear: the focus on the fan base has grown. From opening development camp skates to the public, to hosting the Blue & White scrimmage, to moving puck drop back from 7:30 to 7:00 p.m., the organization is listening in ways it hasn’t in years.
The shift away from the Lou Lamoriello era has lifted many of the restrictions that once limited the fan experience. Now, there’s a real emphasis on making sure that coming to a game isn’t just about hockey—it’s about a night you look forward to from start to finish.
We’ve already seen changes to game times, but that’s just one piece of the puzzle. What else matters to you?
Do you want out-of-town scores displayed again?
Should visiting team replays return?
Would you like to see NHL Edge stats on the scoreboard—like puck release speed or skating pace?
These are standard in most NHL arenas, but until now, they weren’t part of the Islanders’ in-game experience.
If you have ideas or suggestions for how to make game nights even better, please send them to theelmonters@gmail.com.
We want your voice to be part of this new chapter.
Win Baby Win on the Ice! Use the video replay more often, repeat key plays twice. It was comical how little it was used under Louie. UBS in general is great 👍
