Islanders Face Flyers For Second Time In Homestand: Lines & Notes
The Islanders look to extend their win streak to three games.
ELMONT, NY — With back-to-back wins in the books, the New York Islanders (19-20-7) open a weekend back-to-back against the Philadelphia Flyers (22-20-6).
Puck drop at UBS Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the game can be found on MSGSN.
The Flyers beat the Islanders just over a week ago on Jan. 16. Philadelphia got three goals in the second period and kept pace in the third to pull out the victory.
The Islanders signed former Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo to a pro-rated league-minium deal for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Noah Dobson is week-to-week after suffering a lower-body injury against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. Dennis Cholowski will return to the lineup in his place.

Bo Horvat had a pair of goals in the Islanders’ win over the Blue Jackets on Monday. He has a three-game point streak with three goals and two assists for five points in that span. He had a power play goal and assist in their last game against the Flyers.
Mathew Barzal had a pair of helpers on Monday, giving him a three-game point streak as well. The forward has two goals and three assists for five points in that span, including a goal against the Flyers.
Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri are tied for the lead in goals against the Flyers among active Islanders with 13. Barzal leads in the remaining offensive categories with 19 assists and 29 points.
Ilya Sorokin will make the start for the Islanders on the front end of the weekend’s back-to-back. He last started on Monday against the Blue Jackets on Monday, making 25 saves on 26 shots. Against Philadelphia, he is 9-3-2 with a 1.68 GAA and .943 SV% in 14 career games, allowing four goals on 23 shots in a loss the last time they met.
Opponents Notes:
Travis Konecny had a three-assist game in their last meeting, the seventh of his NHL career. He has four assists in his last two games against New York and scored Philadelphia’s lone goal against the New York Rangers on Thursday.
Morgan Frost and Noah Cates each have two goals in their last two games against the Islanders. Sean Couturier and Joel Farabee each had two points in their last meeting, recording a pair of helpers and a goal and assist, respectively.
Coururier’s two-point game extended his lead across the board in scoring against New York. The veteran forward and captain has 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 46 career games facing the Islanders.
After Samuel Ersson started against the Rangers on Thursday, Ivan Fedotov is probable to make the start on Friday. He last started against the Blue Jackets on Jan. 14, allowing two goals on 26 shots in an overtime loss. He made his NHL debut against the Islanders last season, allowing two goals on 21 shots in a loss in relief.
